RIFLE SELF-DEFENSE FUNDAMENTALS

What is Rifle Self-Defense Fundamentals?
With the increasing threat of violent crime, more people are choosing to learn personal protection skills. Unfortunately, many students never have the opportunity to train under instructors who have real-world experience in surviving life-or-death self-defense situations.
This course is designed for civilians who want more than conventional firearms instruction—it is tailored for those who understand that in a real-world encounter, you are on your own. Rooted in the operational methodologies taught to Department of State case officers, undercover operatives, and non-official cover (NOC) personnel, this class equips you with the defensive firearm skills needed to prevail in high-threat, low-support environments.
Unlike military or law enforcement operations that rely on support teams and immediate backup, NOC and gray man doctrine emphasizes individual survivability, concealment, and efficient response to threats. This training mirrors that reality. It bridges high-level tradecraft with civilian applicability, focusing on how to fight with a firearm when no one else is coming to save you.
During this 6-hour live-fire class you'll learn the basics of how to use your rifle in a self-defense scenario. You can expect to receive lots of hands-on practice, instruction, and feedback to help develop and hone your technique both on the range and at home.
NOTE: THIS CLASS IS VALID FOR FL ADDITIONAL FIREARM CERT / QUALIFICATION AND TEST WILL BE SUBMITTED TO STATE IF REQUESTED.
Here’s What You’ll Learn
- How to safely & efficiently manipulate your rifle on the move
- How to efficiently reload and acquire your targets
- How to accurately engage and shoot targets at varying distances
- How to move and shoot targets in defensive scenarios
- How to improve your rifle gun-handling skills on your own

This was great for perfecting my form (stance, gait, holding my weapon, aiming, and shot placement) while moving and engaging multiple threats at different locations. I learned so much more than I expected despite being a veteran soldier and deputy sheriff. Herfel is a great instructor who expertly explains the “why” behind every instruction. There is NO level of BS here and is mostly live fire individually and in teams.
I have taken several classes with Herfel and he always impresses me with his superb teaching style. If you want to understand the physiology involved in shooting, as well as the finer points of accurate, self-defense skills, this the class to take. Herfel is in a class by himself.
Excellent class. Herfel is an amazing firearms instructor. I always leave his class with more knowledge and a better shooter.
Herfel was amazing. Very knowledgeable and helpful. He guided and corrected me when my form was off and showed me ways to ensure it was repeatable.
