Save a Life Training (S.A.L.T.)
Course objectives –
This course is designed to teach participants to defend themselves in an active threat environment. The firearms portion of the course will focus on the pistol fighting principles of Accuracy, Speed and Movement. Participants will learn to engage multiple targets from static and moving positions. Student will also learn to identify and engage active threats such as active shooters. Students will receive instruction on Stop the Bleed techniques to apply lifesaving steps to assist any victims.
Course outline –
The course will be composed of 4 sections of training.
Active shooter awareness and response training.
Stop the bleed certification course which includes a training with practical application.
Fundamentals of Pistol Marksmanship training which includes presentation and practical application.
Final exercise incorporating techniques learned throughout the course.
Section 1 –
Active shooter presentation and discussion with tabletop exercises.
Section 2 -
Stop the Bleed presentation and practical application. This involves students utilizing lifesaving equipment and techniques to treat traumatic injuries. Certification will be provided to students who successfully complete this portion of the course.
Section 3 –
Fundamentals of pistol marksmanship. Presentation followed by dry fire practice without ammunition, then proceeding to the range. Course of fire and live fire training listed below.
Section 4 –
Final exercise composed of a scenario where students will conduct prescribed sequence of target engagements then assess and treat an injured person. Exercise will conclude with after actions debrief.
